(SEATTLE, WA, 6/14/21) — CAIR Washington, the Washington state Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), today joined more than 75 Washington state organizations in calling for justice for Palestine in a full-page ad published in The Seattle Times.
The Muslim Association of Puget Sound American Muslim Empowerment Network (MAPS-AMEN) paid for the advertisement with the intended purpose of pressuring Washington state representatives to support H.R. 2590: “Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act.” Representative Pramila Jayapal is a co-sponsor of the bill.
CAIR Washington is part of the growing chorus of voices in Western Washington calling for an end to U.S. tax dollars being used to kill Palestinian children, attack religious worshippers, and violate international law. Signers of today’s Seattle Times ad form an unprecedented coalition that includes faith institutions and justice advocates, Muslim and Jewish groups, and womxn and veteran associations.
“We are proud to join this coalition that calls for justice and accountability for Palestinians, which has evaded them for far too long, said Imraan Siddiqi, Executive Director at CAIR Washington. “We call on our elected officials to take actions once and for all to defund the bombing, destruction and apartheid that Palestinians must face on a daily basis.”
