(Seattle, WA, 9/6/2024) – The Washington state chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-WA), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today calls on the Biden administration to hold accountable Israelis responsible for the murder of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, an American activist from Seattle, who was shot in the head by Israeli soldiers today in the Occupied West Bank.

“For the past 11 months, we have seen how the IDF has continuously shown an utter disdain for innocent life, whether in Gaza or in the West Bank,” said Imraan Siddiqi, Executive Director of CAIR-WA. “We call on the Biden Administration to hold accountable the killers of Aysenur Eygi and bring them to justice.”
Siddiqi continued: “In our lifetimes, we have seen the IDF kill Americans such as Rachel Corrie, Shireen Abu Akleh, and Furkan Dogan, while our government has barely acknowledged their murders. We must continue to stand for justice for Aysenur and all those who have been killed before her.”
Aysenur Ezgi Eygi was a 26-year-old local human rights activist and University of Washington alum from Seattle, who graduated in June 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures. Aysenur was in the West Bank volunteering for the International Solidarity Movement when she was shot and killed by Israeli forces.
CAIR-WA is in touch with Aysenur’s family and close circle, who request that media to respect the family’s need for privacy during this time.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
